Viña Ijalba – 2016

TYPE OF WINE: Vin d'auteur, with the individuality of a very minority variety.

ELABORATION: Malolactic fermentation in barrel and then ten more months in barrels of French oak.

Maturana Tinta is a very rare variety in Rioja. Viña Ijalba participated in its recuperation, and with it we produce a unique "vin d'auteur", whose main attraction is its great potential. A profound, intense wine, spicy, with hints of black fruit. A wine that is a step away from a typical, traditional Rioja, but at the same time suggestive and striking.

A reunion with history and not grown anywhere else in the world Maturana Tinta is a very rare old ancient variety in Rioja. Fermented for three months in French oak barrels and aged for another 10 before bottling. Intense colour with aromas of black fruit, blackcurrant, black pepper, and chocolate. On the palate, it is vibrant with intense dark fruit flavours and savory balsamic acidity.
