A GRAND CRU IN ANDALUSIA
From the planting of the vineyards, the selection of varieties, the perfectionism in the winemaking and aging processes in Thessaly, everything has been done to create wines of exceptional quality and style that showed concentration, elegance, complexity, balance, length and nobility as they aged. Ready for immediate consumption but will grow over the next ten years.

Bodega Tesalia, known as “Jewel of the South”, is a passion project by British father and enologist trained daughter, Richard Golding and Natalia, who lived in Spain for decades and fell in love with the extended virgin land at the foothills of the Grazalema range very close to the historic village of Arcos de la Frontera in Cádiz, Andalucia, South of Spain. For centuries, Arcos was a strategic city coveted for its privileged location. Its name dates back to Roman times when it was founded as Arx-Arcis (the fortress in height).

The Tesalia Estate comprises 106 hectares of land, 11 ha of under vines on north-facing slopes, with pruning structures designed to promote aeration and shade on these clay and limestone soils.

The climate is warm and sunny, tempered by the Mediterranean and Atlantic influences of the Sierra de Grazalema. With an average temperature of 17.3ºc, the rain falls mainly in winter, between 600 and 700 mm. These special characteristics create ideal ripening conditions for varieties such as Petit Verdot and the indigenous Tintilla de Rota.

Production:
ARX 2018 comes from plot No. 1 of Syrah, plot No. 2 of Tintilla de Rota, plot No. 10 of Petit Verdot and plot No. 3 of Cabernet Sauvignon. All of them with a North East orientation, Levante winds and steep slopes in which the bunches are perfectly shaded and aerated for a perfect maturation. The harvest is collected manually and at night, to take advantage of low temperatures. Pre fermentation cold maceration is done for four days to preserve the colour, aroma and taste of the grapes then the varieties are fermented separately for approximately 20 to 25 days.
Volume: 9.100 cases of 6 bottles each

Tasting Notes:
Visual: Luminous red cherry with good depth.
Fresh and clean, jammy black fruit, succulent plum fruit and blackcurrant aromas, spicy hints and sweet herbs. On the palate shows great complexity, soft with well-integrated fine tannins, finely crafted, nice balanced acidity, spice and length.
